The Gospel
Through Jesus, God is not only the author of the story of the whole world, but He's written himself in as the Hero. He enters into the story to seek and save the lost, rescuing us from slavery to sin and idolatry. He comes as a man, tempted in every way as we are yet without sin, experiencing pain and suffering to identify with our every need. He lives a life of unceasing worship before the Father, led by the Holy Spirit, as the true human.
He gives his life as a ransom, dying a horrific death to become the sufficient sacrifice that takes away the sin of the world.
Three days later he walks out of the grave, defeating sin, death, and evil and opening a new abundant life in His kingdom to all who call on His name. In His Kingdom, our sins are forgiven, good news is proclaimed to the poor, the captives are set free, the blind receive sight, the lame walk, the sick are healed, the deaf hear, the oppressed are liberated, and the favor of the Lord rests on us, as His beloved children, growing up into the likeness of our Father.
The same Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead birthed the Church that thrives around the globe. We are the foretaste of new creation, ambassadors of reconciliation joining Jesus in his restoration of the whole world, ultimately to be completed when He returns in glory making all things brand new.
Family
We are a Family. God, the perfect Father, has adopted us as His children. Rather than a random collection of individuals, we live in committed relationships as brothers and sisters. We arrange our lives to maximize the opportunity to be a part of each others’ lives.
Servants
We are Servants. Jesus not only rules supremely over all the earth, but he intentionally disadvantaged himself for the sake of others. Because Jesus was willing to serve us to the point of death, we are committed to serving him, each other and our cities.
Missionaries
We are Missionaries. Jesus sent His Spirit to enable His Church to be a conduit of blessing to the world. We actively engage and bless our communities with the good news that our world belongs to God.
